Kontakt instruments can be played by any MIDI keyboard, so I'm going to show you how you can load them up to your computer and use your MIDI controller or keyboard. Since these are Kontakt instruments, all the information for this process will apply whether you're using Windows, Mac OS X, or Linux. But if it's windows we're looking at then I'll be showing screenshots from windows 7. If you're on a mac then the process is about the same but with different dialog boxes that are appropriate for that operating system instead of windows. The only difference for you will be the fact that you'll find yourself in the finder instead of the windows explorer. There are two main ways to load Kontakt instruments into your computer. One is using Kontakt Player which is what I'm going to show here. The other way is to use standalone Kontakt which is part of the full version of Kontakt, but not included with player by default. I'm not going to talk about standalone here, but it's another way if you prefer that route. If you want to know more about it then take a look at this tutorial on kvraudio: http://www.kvraudio. com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=408327 If you don't have a computer or a keyboard that has midi then I'd suggest just using Kontakt Player. It comes with it's own soft sampler so you can use your computer to play the instruments too if you want. We're going to do this from the start which is loading up Kontakt Player and adding a new instrument at first. I'll be showing how to use the keyboard for this, but it's pretty much the same whether you have a controller or not. There are two main ways of loading instruments into Kontakt Player, which we'll get on to in a sec. First though, I'll show you how to load it up from within Kontakt Player. Step 1: Download and install Kontakt Player The first thing you need to do is download and install Kontakt Player with the free trial of the full version of Kontakt. You can find that here: http://www.rolandus.com/product/kontakt5/#downloads If you've already got a full version of Kontakt installed then you don't need to download this as there's no difference from from what comes with player already. The trial period is 30 days, but there's no time limit for this. Step 2: Start Kontakt Player and load a new Instrument Once you've installed Kontakt Player, start it up and you'll see the following screen. Since we're looking at how to load individual instruments, I'm going to be showing this part of the process with the keyboard connected. To connect your keyboard for this, you'll need to go to Control Panel > Sound > Recording tab Scroll down here until you see your playback device listed. Click on that and then look down again to Output Device. Click on that to open up its properties. Then click at the top on Advanced. cfa1e77820
